BioCalandil was born in the year 452 in Gondolin. He is content with his life there as long as his father doesn’t try to intervene (so actually whenever his father is not home and so has no chance to pick on him.).
Actually he had a better relationship with his father earlier in his youth when his father had more time for him, and taught him sword fighting. (He’s rather good at it in fact.)

nessero has been more and more absent from home ( due to his duties to Gondolin) they have grown apart, and Calandil feels quite neglected by his father, which leads to a rebellion against his father’s wishes.
Nesséro wishes Calandil to become Glorfindel’s new esquire, but Calandil dreams of joining the House if the Mole though he has no real talent in metal craft, mostly because his father objects to this since he thinks Maeglin, as a Moriquendi, is touched by the shadow of Morgoth. Calandil doesn’t understand his father’s prejudices against the Moriquendi since he admires them, who survived without the protection of the Valar against Morgoth until now.
So he rather feels attracted to join Lord Maeglin who seems more alike him than Glorfindel and the other members of the House of the Golden Flower, certainly mostly because his father is strictly against it.
His mother supports him in this, thinking he should have the freedom to choose his own way in life, mostly because Nesséro has been away most of the time while she has taken care of their son.
He is rather spoiled by his mother, and since she kept everything about the Nirnaeth away from him, not allowing anyone to talk about the war in the presence of her son , he is also rather naïve about that, which is one of the reasons why he doesn’t understand his father who worries and thinks a lot about the Nirnaeth.
He can become rather annoying and childish at times, especially since his father has no real argument against him joining he House of the Mole, and Calandil himself is very stubborn.
His mind is not easily changed once he has set it on something, also because he usually used to get what he wanted from his mother.
He has few friends, and is content to sit and stare into space for hours.
He also writes about anything that comes to his mind, but keeps it his best-kept secret from anyone since he doesn’t really has anyone he trusts that much to tell him about his secret thoughts.
He is in fact very much like his father, but of course he’d never admit it to anyone as he always pretends to hate his father (for neglecting him. Though he’d also never admit that.)
After a lot of arguing, Calandil finally joined the House of the Mole. There he metfalathar, fell in love with him, and ended up broken-hearted, because Fal very soon went back to Malvegil.
Calandil has now been assigned to Prince Argon by the King, since there was a lot of trouble (with his parents mainly) since he went to the House of the Mole.
